Reaction to Tensions: The attack took place during a period of escalated hostilities in the area, which included a rise in fighting around Jerusalem's holy sites and continuous Israeli military operations in the West Bank and Gaza.

Political Motivations: Given the difficulties presented by the Palestinian Authority and other groups, Hamas may have sought to demonstrate its importance and leadership among Palestinians.

Military Strategy: To seriously impair Israeli military capabilities and civilian morale, a concerted assault of land invasions and rocket fire was employed during the operation.


Humanitarian Concerns: Hamas's decision to launch the attack to bring attention to the plight of Palestinians internationally was probably influenced by the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza, which was made worse by blockades and military activities.
