As of September 25, 2024, there are still many fronts on which there is fierce fighting in the Russia-Ukraine war. The fact that Russia is still attacking Vuhledar in the Donbas region is one of the major developments. Russian military are said to have invaded the town after several months of unsuccessful attempts; Ukrainian forces have not yet confirmed this completely. There is still intense fighting going on, with Ukrainian forces fending off many Russian attacks in the region.

After fierce hand-to-hand fighting, Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv were able to retake a significant Russian stronghold and take back control of a vital processing facility that had been under Russian occupation for several months. The fact that Ukraine won this war in spite of being outnumbered shows how resilient they are at defending key areas.

In the wider theater of operations, Russian forces have launched over 3,600 artillery strikes, as well as multiple drone and missile attacks, against Ukraine in the last day. Still, Ukraine is holding its ground, fending off attacks from Kharkiv, Lyman, and Pokrovsk, among other places. Russia, on the other hand, has sustained heavy losses; in the last day alone, 1,250 soldiers, 15 tanks, and 40 armored vehicles have been lost.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, also spoke to the UN Security Council, pleading with international leaders to advance peace and claiming that Russia's requests for communication are not real.
